Spore Space x Hunna Art
In residence: Razan Al Sarraf
For this new residency, Razan AlSarraf will create a new body of work as well as a community-centered workshop that focuses on the landscape and history of Ojai, California. In particular, AlSarraf will be beginning her focus on the history of oil extraction in the surrounding wilderness through her own practice of challenging notions of patriarchy, and systems of power evident within the current and historical political landscape, infrastructure, and the ongoing movements of colonization.
Razan AlSarraf spent her first day in Ojai exploring the town, meeting up with Elizabeth and Rosemary from Spore Space, visiting the Ojai Museum & Library, and learning more about its colonial and agricultural history.
