We are excited to announce that our founder, Océane Sailly has been invited by Firetti Contemporary to co-curate their upcoming exhibition “Eyes Wide Shut” along with Mara Firetti and Cèline Azem.

The artists: Sawsan Al Bahar, Afra Al Suwaidi, Negin Fallah, Annie Kurkdijian, Maryia Shapranova, Amani Al Thuwani, Khawla Almarzooqi, Amina Yahia along with two of our artists: Qamar Abdulmalik, and Alymamah Rashed!

Opening May 12, 2022 at Firetti Contemporary, “Eyes Wide Shut” is a collective exhibition including ten women artists from the UAE, Iran, Armenia, Ukraine, Palestine, Egypt, Syria and Kuwait.

The exhibition embodies a visual exploration of a wide-range of socio-political issues through multidisciplinary mediums: painting, collage, video, installation and more. Eyes Wide Shut is a dialogue of individual styles by Women artists belonging to three different generations (Generation X, Millennials and Generation z). While being at different stages of their careers, each artist navigates their own path whilst questioning familiar narratives, and memories.

Collectively, the artists investigate a wide-range of themes and issues, including cultural and gender identity; interpersonal relationships; and more broad sociopolitical dynamics, both in their locale and beyond. Importantly, their probing investigations stir discussion and draw attention to their diverse and varied experiences. Following this line of inquiry, each artist conveys the struggles and conflicts they encounter as women, both privately and publicly, while bringing together fresh perspectives and approaches to both traditional and new mediums. With the intent to reveal the new forms of consciousness that have emerged in recent years, the featured works transcend gender and cultural differences, venturing into a more universal sense of human nature.
